The ROSA Knee System is an innovative robotic surgery assistant in the charge of orthopedic surgeon Dr. Ricardo Reina, whose role is to evaluate the state of tissues and improve the precision of surgical instruments, thus personalizing knee and hip replacement procedures.
In 2021, the ROSA® system by Zimmer Biomet, was recognized as the best innovation technology in orthopedics. Auxilio Mutuo became the first Hospital in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean to employ the use of this robotic surgical assistant; it was also the first training center for this kind of technology on the island.

The Hospital Auxilio Mutuo is the first and only hospital authorized by the FDA to use the cutting
edge Vertebral Body Tethering System technique, or spinal anchoring. With this technique, a
correction can be made without fusing the vertebrae, which allows for movement and
manipulation of the backbone while the patient still has the possibility of growth. This technique
is designed for pediatric patients with significant scoliosis.
