Transplants are complex procedures that require expert professionals and seasoned, multidisciplinary personnel during surgery and throughout post-operative care. At our Transplant Center, we are by the patient’s side throughout the entire process of surgery and recovery, providing them with thorough attention in a space where they can connect with their loved ones rather than having to leave the Island.
We are proud to be the first hospital in Puerto Rico to have carried out various procedures, including the first liver transplant, the first pediatric liver transplant, and the first split liver transplantation on the island. Patients who benefit from this program are tended to three to four times faster than in the United States, due to the fact that we receive more organ donations than patients who require them.
Our Liver Transplant program, one of the first on the island, has been around for over 40 years and has benefitted both adult and pediatric patients, impacting over 3,000 lives. Currently, we carry out around 80 liver transplants per year, lead by a team of certified surgeons. Our Transplant Center is a landmark in the Caribbean and throughout Latin America.
Auxilio Transplant Center is the only institution in Puerto Rico that boasts the approval of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), the national organization in charge of managing organ transplant lists and identifying when an organ is compatible with a patient.
The Auxilio Mutuo Hospital Transplant Center offers transplant procedures for
kidneys, pancreas, and liver, both in adult and pediatric patients.
We also offer recovery services as well as liver transplants.
Our patients have access to all necessary ancillary services and to the support of an excellent multidisciplinary team in one place, close to their loved ones.
