    Admissions

    Our schedule offers our patients the convenience of coordinating their admissions process from their physician’s office. We have at our disposal a Bed Manager, whose job is to facilitate access to our rooms according to the degree of care required by the patient according to their doctor.

    Pre-Admission

    Our Pre-admissions Center includes the services of Patient Registry, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Electrocardiogram (EKG), Blood Bank, Graduate nurses, Anesthesia and Case Management, all directed towards orienting each patient in all aspects related to the preparation of the patient’s pre-op procedure. For the patient’s convenience, we have at their disposal the expertise of Internal Medicine physicians, who would carry out the appropriate medical evaluation prior to a surgical intervention ordered by a surgeon.

    The recommended time frame for pre-admission is at least five business days prior to the date of the surgery or procedure. If you are bringing outside lab results or EKGs, these should not be older than 30 days prior to the moment of your scheduled surgery or procedure.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR PRE-ADMISSION:

    Certified medical order, with the patient’s full name
    and scheduled date of surgery (ORIGINAL).

    Consent for Operation, completed by
    your physician.

    Medical history and Physical, completed by your physician.

    Medical insurance card and photo ID.

    In order to verify the need for preauthorization,
    we recommend that the patient communicate
    directly with their medical insurance company.

    Approval Number or written Authorization by primary
    care insurance provider (arranged by Medical Office
    and the patient or a family member, if applicable).

    Coordination of prosthesis and implants between
    the insurance provider and supply company
    (arranged by Medical Office).

    Bring referrals from your primary care physician to
    the Hospital, Anesthesia, and Internal Medicine
    departments (Medicare Platino insurance plans).

    Preauthorization requirements may vary according to
    your insurance coverage, and in some cases may require
    documentation that should be referred by the surgeon’s
    office or the physician who issues the referral.

    Appointments
    Service hours at our Pre-Admissions Center are appointment-based, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
    To schedule your appointment, please reach out to us between Monday and Friday (except on federal holidays) between 8:00 AM and 4:15 PM at (787) 758-2000, ext. 1013 or 1016.

    Please have your Admission Order and insurance plan card on hand when you call us.

    ADMISSION

    Our Admissions Department processes the admissions of both adult and pediatric patients referred by medical offices, transfers from other institutions, and patients admitted through our Emergency Rooms.

    Admission through a medical office
    A physician with active privileges at Auxilio Mutuo may establish direct communication with our Department in order to reserve a patient’s bed. Once reserved, the patient has a maximum of two hours to appear at our Admissions Office, located in our main lobby, to register and be escorted to their room.

    Admission through an Emergency Room
    If a patient who visits our Emergency Rooms is admitted to the Hospital, the personnel in charge of this area will electronically process the necessary documents for admission and bed assignment. Once the patient is assigned a room, they will be escorted by our institution’s staff and assisted in transporting their belongings.
