Mastectomy

A mastectomy is a surgical procedure in which one or
both breasts are removed, generally as a part of breast
cancer treatment or to reduce the risk of developing this
disease in people who genetically are at risk.

RECONSTRUCTIVE BREAST
SURGERY

This is a surgical procedure that is carried out after a mastectomy
(surgical removal of one or both breasts), as part of treatment for
breast cancer. The objective of this surgery is to restore the shape
and appearance of the affected breast(s), thus caretaking the
self-esteem and quality of life of the patient.

For the reconstruction of a breast, the following may be used:

Tissue Expanders and Breast Implants

The patient’s own tissue

Biological materials

Axillary Dissection

Axillary dissection is a surgical procedure in which lymph
nodes are removed from the underarm area in order to
evaluate if breast cancer has spread to this region. This
surgery is carried out as part of breast cancer treatment
to determine how far cancer has spread and to chart an
accurate treatment plan.

Head and Neck Surgery

Auxilio Mutuo is proud to be one of the few hospitals in
the country to offer oncological surgery with the help
of robotics. This technology specializes in the surgical
treatment of malignant tumors and other cancerous
conditions that affect areas such as the mouth, throat,
larynx, pharynx, salivary glands, thyroid and
related tissues.

Its objective is the safe and thorough removal of a tumor,
maintaining the function and aesthetic of the surrounding
area, such as the capacity to speak, swallow and breathe.
