NEW PROTOCOLS FOR VISITORS AND COMPANIONS

GUIDELINES FOR VISITORS & COMPANIONS DURING
THE RISE OF COVID-19 CASES

The health and safety of our patients, families, employees, suppliers, and physicians will always be a top priority at Hospital Auxilio Mutuo. Therefore, we have revised our visitor policies due to the latest guidelines published by the Puerto Rico Health Department, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the Delta variant. These guidelines will take effect on August 16th, 2021.

GENERAL GUIDELINES REGARDING VISITS

  • Visits can and will be restricted to enforce social distancing and compliance with other safety precautions against COVID-19.
  • Visitors and companions must be over 12 years old, except in special circumstances.
  • Visitors and companions must go through security checkpoints to register their visit. The security personnel will enforce the use of masks, hand sanitizer and the screening questions. An official photo ID and evidence of complete inoculation (both doses) against COVID-19 must be provided.
  • Visitors and companions that do not have evidence of full vaccination, must show a negative result for a molecular test (PCR or antigen) performed no more than 72 hours prior to the visit.
  • The clinical team may restrict visits in certain cases in which there are immunocompromised or high-risk patients.
  • For the time being, visits will be limited to Intensive Care Units during a limited schedule from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Only one (1) visitor at a time per patient is allowed to enter the premises.
  • Visitors for the Pediatric and Adult Intensive Care Units will not be allowed into the rooms of patients suspected of having, or those who have already tested positive for COVID-19. You will be able to see your family member through the glass window of the room. For patients that are presumptive positive or have already tested positive for COVID-19, visitors must show evidence of a full vaccination and a negative result for a molecular test (PCR or antigen) performed no more than 72 hours prior to the visit.
  • Exceptions for temporary visits will be evaluated for patients in special circumstances, like imminent death, pediatric patients, or for specific patients that might need more support.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES FOR COMPANIONS, OR CARETAKERS
OF HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS

  • Only two (2) companions per patient are allowed during your stay.
  • Only one (1) companion at a time per patient is allowed to enter the premises.
  • Two (2) caretakers or support personnel will be considered to enter simultaneously in the Pediatric Units. These can only be parents, tutors, or family caretakers.
  • Companions and caretakers won’t be allowed in the Special Care Units such as Intensive Care, BMT, the COVID-19 unit, or other areas that the hospital deems necessary.
  • Exceptions will be considered when it is medically necessary for the wellbeing of the patient. These situations will be discussed with the doctors and nursing staff.
